Yamaha Pro Brett King Earns 2018 Angler of the Year Title during Cabela’s® National Walleye Tour

BAUDETTE, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Yamaha Pro Brett King was named 2018 Lucas Oil® Angler of the Year title on Sept. 9 during the National Walleye Tour Championship on Lake of the Woods, Minn. King brought in a total of 41.80 pounds to finish fifth in the championship tournament, earning him the points needed to become the Angler of the Year recipient. He joins the ranks of Yamaha Pro Robert Blosser as one of only two pros to earn the Angler of the Year title twice, claiming his first title in 2011.

The Hager City, Wisc. angler joined the Yamaha Pro Fishing Team in 2017, and has been fishing professionally since 2002. During the last 15 years, he has fished in every major walleye tournament series, qualifying in each AIM®, PWT, RCL, FLW®, and NWT™ circuit. King also has multiple top ten finishes and holds an Angler of the Year title for the AIM® Pro Walleye Series presented by Yamaha and Warrior Boats.

“I had three top-ten finishes guaranteed going into the final cut day, and I still had to fish until the last hour of the tournament to make sure I had this sealed up, which shows just how brutal this competition is and how good these anglers are,” said King. “Everything comes into play to be able to win this trophy, and you have to know that your boat and motor will get you there and back every time. I am proud to have the best sponsors when it comes to equipment, and I’m also proud to claim my second Angler of the Year title.”

Yamaha Pro Robert Blosser finished in third place with 44.93 pounds. Blosser is also a two-time Angler of the Year recipient, winning his first title in 2013 and his second title in 2017.
