Skeeter Boats and Yamaha hosted the 28th annual Skeeter Owners Bass Tournament on Lake Fork, Texas, at Lake Fork Marina and Hotel in Alba, Texas, June 9 through 12. Approximately 1,800 anglers in 900 Skeeter boats competed for more than $200,000 in cash and prizes, including a Yamaha Viking VI Side by Side, Yamaha Kodiak ATV and the grand prize, a Skeeter® FXR20 bass boat with a 250-horsepower Yamaha V MAX SHO® outboard.

Anglers fought to catch the biggest bass “above the slot”, which means out of range of the fish most likely to produce offspring and maintain the population levels. Angler Kerry Halter won this year’s grand prize after reeling in an 11-pound bass. Sam Bownds took home the Series VI Side by Side for weighing in the heaviest bass under the slot, and Travis Hundl left with the Yamaha ATV that was given away by our random drawing for donating to the Toy Drive. Anglers and volunteers also collected more than 660 toys and $5,200 cash for charities during the event.

“This family tournament is one of the biggest highlights of the year for the Skeeter and Yamaha brands,” said Jeff Stone, Sr. Vice President/General Manager of Skeeter Boats. “We are always blown away with the turn out, the enthusiasm and the passion for the sport. We look forward to another great event in 2023.”

“The Skeeter Owners’ Tournament represents an opportunity for us to give back to our owners,” said Joanne Obryant, Senior Marketing Manager, Skeeter Boats. “We can’t thank our sponsors, volunteers and staff enough for the months of preparation, and we would like to extend special appreciation to Tony Chachere and his team for cooking the pulled pork for the Saturday night dinner. Our sponsors provide so much product, we are so grateful for their generosity.”
