FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
On Tuesday, June 27th Captain Greg and Karen kicked off Sun Prairie’s summer school Fish Camp, which was held at Patrick Marsh Middle School. The air quality was bad so Fish Camp was held in the gym. Fish Camp was to be held for three days, with education on day one and traveling to two different fishing locations on Wednesday and Thursday. With the poor air quality Wednesday and Thursday, the remaining part of Fish Camp was canceled with the hope of being rescheduled.
Tuesday afternoon started out with Captain Greg presenting his Fishing Basics seminar which taught the campers on the equipment and skills needed to begin fishing. Once the seminar was completed youth attended hands on fishing stations. The first station, was casting, where campers learned how to cast accurately and safely utilizing Backyard Bass. The second station, youth learned how to identify different fish, such as panfish, game fish and what Wisconsin’s state fish is. The third station, campers learned how to tie a Clinch and Palomar knot. The final station campers rigged a fishing combo with hook, sinker and bobber that would be used during the fishing portion of camp.
Each youth attending Fish Camp received a fishing combo, NPAA Future Pro shirt along with a fishing educational book.
