Earlier this week, the U.S. Senate approved the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), a massive legislative package that includes $2 trillion in funding for businesses, individuals and the health care industry. The bill is expected to pass the U.S. House of Representatives today and quickly be signed into law.
Notably, the CARES Act includes $350 billion for forgivable loans to small businesses who maintain their payroll during this emergency, as well as numerous tax credit and deferrals. Congress is now expected to turn its attention to additional “stimulus” legislation aimed at boosting the economy and employment.
