Club members conducted the annual Kids’ Fishing Clinic at the 2023 Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor “Fish-O-Rama” event on Saturday, August 5th. With over 40 rod/reel combos and Tshirts from the club’s friends at NPAA/FAF, and the swag cache of lure keychains, the club felt prepared for the numbers they have historically served at this event. WOW!…over 70 kids and 25 adults attended this year’s clinic.

Everyone walked away with a prize but the club was rationing its supply of swag! The clinic started with President Dave Nichols giving a short presentation on why it is important to preserve our water resources, the threats posed by invasive species and why the “clean/drain/dry” mantra is important for our young people to preserve what we have for their future. Steve Miller followed with a presentation on rigging and casting a spin-cast setup with helpful tips from members Ethan Trumblee and Taylor Steffens.

All of the participants then got an opportunity to work on their casting skills at 6 stations set up and manned by club members. This was the biggest clinic the club has ever conducted and shows the heightened interest in fishing by our younger generations!
