JR Carter and Kris Walcker Host 2nd Annual Kids Fishing Clinic at the ND Sportsman’s Expo in Bismarck, ND

BISMARCK, ND, December 28, 2018 – The 6th annual Puklich Chevrolet ND Sportsman’s Expo was held at the Bismarck Event Center on December 7-8 where a portion of the proceed went to Sporting Chance ND.

Professional Anglers duo JR Carter and Kris Walcker taught 36 local kids about ice fishing and open water safety, proper clothing for the conditions, fish identification, preventing aquatic invasive species, state fishing laws, how to catch fish and worked with the kids on how to cast!

The kids were engaged and active participants and were excited to receive their very own rod. Many were making plans with their parents to go ice fishing the next day. The adults even walked away with some new knowledge, tips and gear ideas.

The duo stated, “If we can create excitement, peak their interests and capitalize on their participation, we can hopefully spark a passion in them to be a future angler.”

As part of the National Professional Angler Association, the Future Angler Foundation provided ice combos, casting dummies and t-shirts. The North Dakota Game and Fish provided coloring books, fishing keychains, and other print material.

“JR and I are honored to be part of organizations who invest in future generations and appreciate the ND Sportsman’s Expo for their continued interest in the clinic and providing a space for where the kids could gather. We hope everyone who attended can create some great memories on the ice this winter with their new rods.” Walcker said.

The duo will be hosting another fishing clinic at the Bismarck Tribune Sports show in February.
