WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN – The World Fish Migration Foundation and Wildlife Forever have joined together to promote aquatic conservation through art. By teaching youth the Art of Conservation®, this international partnership will reach thousands of young people each year.

The World Fish Migration Foundation is the main coordinator of World Fish Migration Day. This day offers the opportunity to celebrate and teach others about the importance of migratory fish and the free-flowing waters they rely on. In honor of this new partnership, Wildlife Forever’s State-Fish Art Contest has created the new Fish Migration Award. This award is open to contestants ages 5-18 years old across the globe with the goal of sharing an appreciation for migratory fish.

Herman Wanningen, Founder and Creative Director of the World Fish Migration Foundation said, “I am excited to be working with Wildlife Forever and the State-Fish Art Program. The Fish Migration Award is a perfect avenue to reach children across the world and show them and others the beauty of migratory fish through art.”

“The Fish Migration Award will highlight the unique abilities of youth across the planet and will connect them to fish and fishing.  The State Fish Art Contest has had participants from 14 international countries over the last two years, this partnership with the World Fish Migration Foundation is going to help reach even further,” said Pat Conzemius, President and CEO of Wildlife Forever.

The award-winning Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art® Contest, presented by Title Sponsor Bass Pro Shops, connects children, art and aquatic conservation together! To enter, young artists create an original illustration of any official state-fish and written words detailing its behavior, habitat, and efforts to conserve it. Entries are due postmarked by March 31st each year.  For details on contest rules, entry forms and past winners, visit www.statefishart.org.

About the World Fish Migration Foundation: Our foundation aims to protect and conserve migratory fish around the world. We do this by creating global attention for the challenges migratory fish face, inspiring and advocating for dam removals, and supporting initiatives that open up important swimways that fish need to complete their lifecycles.

About Wildlife Forever (WF): Wildlife Forever’s mission is to conserve America’s wildlife heritage through conservation education, preservation of habitat and management of fish and wildlife.
