The official Bass Fishing World Championship is set for October 16-22, 2022 as the fishing world descends upon Lake Murray in Columbia, SC. The event, officially sanctioned by the Confederation Internationale de Peche Sportive – CIPS, is the only bass fishing world championship acknowledged by the International Olympic Committee through their affiliation with AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport) and GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations)

Jacob Wheeler will be fishing for the star-studded USA Bass team in 2022.

The 2022 Bass World Championship is an important step for the expansion of bass fishing globally. Lake Murray is recognized as America’s premier tournament bass fishing destination. Confirmation of attendance is coming in quickly with verbal commitments from: USA, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Panama, Dominican Republic, First Nations, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Germany, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Estwani, Namibia, Australia, South Korea, Phillipines and others. There is plenty of pent-up excitement from international anglers such as fishing legend Bob Izumi who will be leading Team Canada.“We are excited to host the World Bass Championship and that Lake Murray, a world fishing destination, is the first to host this inaugural event. We look forward to welcoming the various countries from around the world and showing them our Southern hospitality,” stated Miriam Atria, President/CEO, Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board.

The USA Bass team will consist of top anglers from MLF and B.A.S.S. including Scott Martin, Jacob Wheeler, Scott Canterbury, David Dudley, Mark Rose, David Fritts, Fred Roumbanis and James Watson. They will be coached by Charlie Evans and Anthony Gagliardi.
