Twenty-seven-year veteran professional walleye angler Ross Grothe, recently signed a new boat sponsorship with Warrior Boats. In 2020, he relocated his family to North Dakota and will be competing on the North Dakota AIM Weekend Walleye Series, which will visit legendary fisheries, including: Lake Audubon, Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River.
Grothe’s support crew is anchored by Karisa, his wife of 23 years and their two growing sons, the eldest Reid (14) and Roger (11). Each have proven to be very talented on the water, in the woods or in the field pursing the outdoors with vigor.
“The Warrior Boat family is very excited to add Team Grothe to our roster,” said Kent Anderson, National Sales Manager at Warrior Boats. “We are a very family-oriented company, which makes the Grothe family a perfect fit for our pro staff during 2021 and beyond.”
To date, Grothe has garnered three championship titles, 43 Top 10s, 66 Top 20s and 23 Tour Championship qualifications. In 1996, he earned the NAWA Angler of the Year title, the 2003 PWT Angler of the Year, the 2006 Detroit River FLW champion and fourth place at the 2012 Bays de Noc/Escanaba FLW event. In 2014, Grothe finished seventh at Bays de Noc and fifth at the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour Championship on Wisconsin’s Lake Winnebago.
In recent years, Grothe has been competing exclusively on the Aim Pro Walleye Series (AIM) with his two sons. In fact, Reid was the second half of the team when Team Grothe won two AIM events and the Team of the Year title in 2015.
“My family is my support crew,” Grothe said. “We hunt and fish together as often as possible, and we fish walleye tournaments as a family, too. With as much time as we spend on the water, the right boat critical to our success. We are absolutely thrilled for this new direction and new relationship with Warrior Boats. I’m grateful for the opportunity and the future looks great.”
Grothe’s 2021 sponsors include: Yamaha Outboards, Warrior Boats, Lowrance, Optima Batteries, Berkley, Abu Garcia and Smooth Moves Seats.
